Bring Back Pauly Shore
July 23rd 2007 12:00
I am going to say this now. Bring back Pauly Shore. Sure, his movies may be immature and dated. Sure, he’s won four Razzie awards for Worst Actor, quite an achievement since he’s only starred in six movies. Sure, his baffling skater/stoner comedy style is heavily dated back to the early nineties. But despite this, he was quite funny.
It’s easy to make fun of Pauly Shore, since his career is well and truly at rock bottom. But we should also appreciate his finer qualities, listed below.
1) His performance in Bio-Dome made Kylie Minogue look like a talented actress.
2) His website, www.paulyshore.com, is pretty snazzy looking.
3) His acting career was so distinctive that despite his limited filmography, he was still nominated at the Razzies for ‘Worst Actor of the Century’. Sylvester Stallone won.
4) He made a mockumentary making fun of his career being at a lowpoint in which he kills himself for publicity. He managed to convince about a thousand people to make cameos in the film, including Charlie Sheen, Snoop Dogg and Academy Award winner Sean Penn.
Being down and out isn’t particularly fun. It mustn’t feel good imploring people visiting his website to email Disney to tell them to make a sequel to Son in Law. It mustn’t be fun listing the critical acclaim from his latest movie from credible sources such as the ‘Fans Buzz Message Board’ and Moviehole. But it also isn’t good to hit people when they’re down. Case in point.
Really Long Link
I'd embed the YouTube clip, but I'm having trouble with the technology.
Those who lament Pauly Shore’s demise are invited to post comments.
