ARIA Award Nominations, and why they suck
September 20th 2007 02:11
Yeah, so much for daily. At least it's not monthy yet. Though almost.
I'm a little put off by the ARIA award nominations this year. I say I'm a little put off because I was so put off last year that I had to pass a kidney stone just to take my mind off it. Now it's just a little bit downhill. Like having a remix album nominated for Album of the Year, to make up for the fact that they didn't notice Gotye last year when everyone else did. Quick thinking guys. Next year, why not nominate the Easybeats?
Has it really been such a bad year for Australian music? Sure, it's not like I expect The Drones to be nominated, since they're actually a good band, but come on.
It's depressing that the band that's probably going to win Album of the Year is Silverchair, particularly since they've never won it before. But their latest album is their worst album. And they've had some pretty bad albums. Have you heard Neon Ballroom. That record gave me rheumatoid arthritis.
Still, at least Operator Please got nominated for two awards, so at least the ARIA people were listening to my radio show last year some of the time.
Meh.
